It’s been a couple of years since we last heard of the RS2000, and now the Melkus comes back into focus with the Black Edition of the Lotus-based sportscar. It still looks like a total melange off different parts: doors from the SLS AMG, a nose from Spyker and a Lotus back end.
The edition is all about its paintjob, a deep black finish that is applied in six layers, each being sanded flat afterwards. There are also some carbon fiber elements, like the big wing on the back, the blade of the air intakes, side skirts and the front lip spoiler.
The engines aren’t from Toyota, instead you can opt for a 2.0-liter turbo from either VW or Opel. The regular RS2000 gets 300 hp from the tuned lumps of German reasonableness, but the Black has no less that 325 horsepower DIN.
Now for the important numbers: the car costs €149,000, which is $195,600… not that you can drive it in America.
