Now that Jaguar has unlocked the full power potential of the 5.0-liter supercharged V8 serving the F-Type, it was only normal for the aftermarket world to interfere. The latest example of this comes from German tuner Mcchip-DKR, which has come up with an alternative to the range-topping F-Type SVR.
The developer has gotten its hands on an F-Type R Convertible AWD model, but has decided to challenge Jag's range-topper - note that, since this is a German development, we'll be talking PS, not HP numbers in this story.
The tuner had a bit of a surprise when it strapped the machine to the dyno - while Jaguar claims the R badge means the driver gets to play with 550 ponies, the aftermarket developer only got 512 hp.
However, Mcchip-DKR dind't fret too much when noticing the actual output of the British beast, since they were planning an upgrade anyway. Instead, they got to work and convinced the blown V8 to deliver the expected 550 hp.
To be more precise, the tuner installed a pulley upgrade. As a result, the output of the car now sits at 550 hp and 680 Nm (lb-ft) of torque.
Given the amount of extra hp resulting from the technical massage and factoring in the official hp number offered by Jaguar, this F-Type should deliver 600 horses. Then again, the Jaguar F-Type, even in V6 trim, is the kind of car that will see you skipping the hp-counting stage and sticking to the driving.
This is the type of extrovert machine that can easily lead to its driver experiencing goosebumps. From the growl of the exhaust to the tail-happy nature of the driving experience, everything about this Jaguar is overly wild.
