Mazda North American Operations plans to develop its marketing activities: the company announced that it has created a new position, Chief Marketing Officer position and that the role will be taken by Donald Romano, who currently serves as President of Mazda Canada.
Romano will maintain his Canadian function and will also lead the company’s North American marketing division in its effort to establish a strong brand image. This will include the appointment of new agencies and the further development of Mazda’s long term marketing strategy for the U.S., Canadian and Mexican markets.
Romano’s experience in the company (he joined Mazda in 2000 and has held multiple important positions) recommended him for the new project. Before becoming Mazda Canada’s president in April 2006, the executive served as Vice President of Mazda North American Operations, supervising the brand’s development, establishing business strategies and planing the global integration of the company. Prior to that, he was General Manager of Business Operations for Mazda North America Operations’ Western Region.
Romano’s office will continue to be based in Canada and he will report to Jim O’Sullivan, President and Chief Executive Officer of Mazda North America Operations and to Keishi “Keith” Egawa, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Mazda North America Operations.
Mazda North America Operations, headquartered in Irvine California, supervises the carmaker’s sales, marketing, parts and customer service support for the U.S., Canadian and Mexican markets, overseeing over 900 dealers. The current year is a special one for the division, as it marks its 40th anniversary in the U.S.
