Yesterday, we reported that Australians will be able to enjoy the Mazda MX-5 Special Edition and it is now time to give you the news that the vehicle will also be brought to the US, as it is scheduled to debut at the Chicago Auto Show.
Americans will have to fight for 750 units of the car, with the prices starting at $30,925 for the manual transmission model and at $31,525 for the six-speed automatic gearbox version. This really seem like bargains, if we compare them to the Australian price of the vehicle sitting at US$47,800.
The vehicle, which uses the Grand Touring version as a starting point, is powered by the stock 2.0 liter unit that lets the driver play with 167 hp and a maximum torque of 140 lb-ft. The list of tech additions includes the Suspension Package, which brings a sports-orientated suspension with Bilstein shock absorbers and a limited slip differential to the game.
”Originally available in three trim levels – Sport, Touring and Grand Touring – the Special Edition is based off of a fully-equipped Grand Touring model but is only available with the industry-leading, easy-to-use Power Retractable Hard Top (PRHT),” stated the press release
Customers can choose between two new colors, Sparkling Black Mica and Dolphin Gray Mica, with the vehicle riding on 17-inch rims that use a bright finish. As for the interior, this brings multiple goodies, such as heated leather seats, a leather finish for the handbrake and steering wheel, chrome air vent rings and others.
