The Mazda MX-5 GT that was showcased at the 2012 Goodwood Festival of Speed has been green-lighted for production, Auto Express reports. The vehicles will become available as a kit cars though Mazda’s racing partner, Jota Sport.
Tweaks applied by Jota, including an ECU enhancement and a new sports exhaust, will increase the power squeezed from the 2.0-liter engine from 157 BHP to 203 BHP. The vehicle will also come with an upgraded suspension and body parts similar to the Goodwood car.
As far as pricing is concerned, Auto Express says “it’ll be less than £30,000”, including the base £18,495 MX-5, and will be offered with a three-year warranty. No word on availability yet, so we don’t know whether the MX-5 GT will become available in the United States or not.
