Maserati might not make James Bond cars like Aston Martin, but their latest models are somehow… better. We can't put that into a straight-laced argument, but the new Ghibli and Quattroporte really are awesome cars for the modern times, both to look at and drive.
Coincidentally, the same year when these cool Italian sedans make their debut is also the year when their centennial takes place. And to celebrate, Maserati is launching the "Road to Modena" journey from Asia to the spiritual home of the company.
The first step was taken when a hundred cars were assembled at the famous Imperial Ancestral Temple in Beijing, forming the number "100" in the courtyard that was once forbidden to all Westerners.
Not wanting to fall short, Maserati Japan also organized such a gathering at one of its ancient venues, a symbol of the Land of the Rising Sun and its culture. Because the brand had been present there for much longer than in China, organizers were able to gather up a few delicious-looking classics, the 3200 GT which preceded the GranTurismo and the Biturbo.
From our understanding, the Japanese event was organized at the Minato-ku temple in Tokyo, which unless we're mistaken was the scene of 2013's The Wolverine, featuring Hugh Jackman. Maserati really went the whole nine yards with this event, preparing a bespoke special edition porcelain Oolong tea set and many surprises for the guests.
