Man Would Rather Keep 2022 Ford F-450 Super Duty King Ranch Dually Than Sell for $83,000

Luckily, there’s no shortage of heavy and/or super-duty trucks in the U.S. and whether you buy from Ford, Chevy, GMC, or Ram, you’ll end up with trusted companion that’ll never let you down. It’s funny how some people scoff at the sight of a pickup with a dually setup, as if the driver is trying too hard to be something they’re not – trying to stand out like some certain Humvee owners or people driving those massive Rhino GX SUVs from US Specialty Vehicles.

The dually is different. It exists to serve a purpose, otherwise, what are you going to use to haul a trailer with a handful of horses? A semi-truck? Sure, you can, but you don’t have to. A super-duty pickup with the right spec should be all the help you need.

Now, what we have here is a 2022 Ford F-450 Super Duty King Ranch truck with a Crew Cab 4x4 dually configuration. It was up for grabs at auction until recently, when it failed to sell due to its owner refusing a bid of $83,000. To put that into perspective, this truck cost $90,895 when new – now it’s two years old and has 6,000 miles on the clock.

Visually, you’re looking at a dual-tone Star White and Stone Gray exterior, with a twin-panel sunroof, LED headlights, power-deployable running boards, power-telescoping towing mirrors, roof clearance lights, power tailgate, a gooseneck hitch receiver, plus a set of 19.5” alloy wheels with 225/70 Continental Conti Hybrid HD3 tires. The skid plates were added as part of the FX4 Off-Road Package.

The interior is quite spectacular. We’re talking heated, ventilated, massaging, and power-adjustable front seats, all dressed up in two-tone Java leather with “Running W” embroidery. Other highlights within the cabin include the heated rear bench, overhead console switchgear, dual-zone automatic climate control, ambient lighting, a wireless charging pad, a 10-speaker Bang & Olufsen sound system, and lots more.

There’s plenty of active safety tech on-board too, such as the Blind-Spot Monitoring System. Meanwhile, the Ultimate Trailer Tow Camera System with Pro Trailer Backup Assist adds Reverse Guidance and a 360-degree camera.

As for what this truck can do in terms of performance – it's got a 6.7-liter Power Stroke V8 turbodiesel, factory rated at 475 horsepower and 1,050 lb-ft (1,423 Nm) of torque, with everything going to all four corners via a 10-speed automatic transmission.

So, what would have been the right price for this thing? Frankly I’m not sure if holding out for more money was the right thing to do. I did my best to configure a brand-new 2024 F-450 Super Duty with the exact King Ranch dually spec as this one, plus most of the same optional extras – and the MSRP only grew to $99,045, destination charge included. Tough call.
