A 22-year-old man from Baltimore, Reginald D. Wooding Jr., picked the wrong day to get a state driver’s license. He used his mother’s vehicle for the test, but forgot to remove incriminating items from it beforehand.
This just goes to show that you can’t be an outlaw and not see the bigger picture at all times. That only happens in Hollywood flicks, when the bad guys can escape the police even when they make mistakes.
Wooding’s mistake ended up costing him dearly, USA Today reports. He was probably running a small-time drug-dealing business, and it got shut down. It started when the driver’s license examiner got in the car and smelled marijuana. Wooding was probably acting suspicious as well.
So, the examiner left Wooding in the car and, under a false pretense, went back into the Motor Vehicle Administration location, in search of a trooper. When they returned, Wooding was still waiting to take the test and he was taken into custody without incident.
“Police say they found one pound of marijuana, a scale, more than $15,000 and a loaded handgun in the car Wooding had hoped to use to complete the driving test. Police say the money is likely related to drugs,” the publication reports.
Wooding was arrested and charged with several drug- and gun-related offenses, and has since been released on bond. However, given that he has a track record of assault, burglary and other drug-related offenses, it looks like he should be getting ready for some considerable time away, behind bars.
Adding insult to injury, he didn’t get his driver’s license either, because all of this went down before he took the test. No word on how his mother feels about using her car to do his dirty business, but he probably got an earful for that.
