Lotus Brings Evora S, IPS at NYIAS

Even if the 2011 New York International Auto Show (NYIAS) is some two months away, the excitement surrounding the event is beginning to grow and the first auto makers have begun to announce their presence at the event.

Among the first to do so is Lotus, who revealed today that it would bring to the East Coast, for the first time, two versions of the Evora model: the S and Intelligent Precision Shift (IPS). The two models will be shown for the first time in North America during the NYIAS Annual East Side House Settlement Gala Preview on April 21.

Presented for the first time in August last year, the two versions of the Evora pack the same engine, a 3.5l V6 which develops 350 PS at 7,000 rpm in the former and 280 PS at 6,400rpm in the latter.

In the IPS, the novelty is represented by the 6-speed automatic transmission, a not-so-used feature by Lotus in recent years. The unit gives the driver control with either automatic drive modes or manual paddle shifts.

"We are thrilled to partner with Lotus Cars Ltd. for the Gala Preview, which is a critical source of private funding for East Side House Settlement,” said John Sanchez, executive director of the East Side House Settlement.

“Proceeds will be essential toward benefitting the motivated students that we serve and in continuing our efforts to create long-lasting opportunities for the communities of the South Bronx with a focus on education and technology training as gateways out of poverty."
