London's Burning. Burning Petrol and Turning It into Loud Sounds, That Is

For a few years now, London has become the ground of choice for the rich to display their new expensive cars. That wouldn't be so bad if their understanding of "displaying" didn't involve revving the engines and causing all sorts of nuisances.
It must be nice living in London. Getting up in the middle of the night to close that window because of the noise, only to find out the modified exhaust of a Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG Black Series doesn't care if there's an extra sheet of glass between you two. You gently insert your head under the pillow, squeeze hard and try to fall back to sleep. You fail to do that, so you think about doing what a tattle-tale would do and call the police. And then they arrive with their lights flashing and loud sirens and you feel like jumping out the window. But then you remember you live on the first floor and that wouldn't do any good, so you start making a cup of tea and decide to start the day early.

It's easy to understand why people buy powerful cars, but it's more difficult to explain why they feel the need to rev the hell out of them on a narrow, crowded street in London. Or you could explain it, but you would have to use rude words.

It's because of asshats like these that people driving this kind of cars get a bad rep. Even worse, it's why the cars themselves are frowned upon, even though such a vehicle on a racetrack would be an entirely different story. This, though? There's no skill involved, so what's there to brag about? If you already have a fast car, then learn how to drive it properly and start posting videos of you on the track.

Also hard to understand is why such things are still alowed to happen. If you have a look at some of the videos below, you'll see they are shot in the exact same spot, but on two different occasions, so it's not like the police don't know where to find the nasty drivers. Also, you can clearly see the license plates in the videos, and there's enough incriminating proof here for a hefty fine. According to this earlier report, some action is being taken, but as it's always the case with officials, it's taking longer than it should.

The thing is these guys care as little about a fine as you do for that change that falls down the hole in your pocket. And what's even more sad is the encouraging comments they get on their videos. Oh well, I guess it's just us getting old and grumpy...

Have a look here at some pure and unnecessary mayhem, and let's hope it's the last we see of them:
