If you can afford a Lexus LFA, it doesn't mean you can drive it, too. Lexus knows this and also knows that, as any other super car, the LFA requires a certain set of skills to play along with the driver.
This is why the manufacturer announced the introduction of the driver development program for future Lexus LFA owners in the US and not only. To be held at the Infineon Raceway in Sonoma, California, the program will span for several days, from March 8 to 15.
The driving lessons will be held with the help of racing professionals and will comprise a blend of racing theory, track lapping sessions, performance limit exercises and technical demonstrations.
Just to remind you what Lexus is trying to teach, here's a little taste of the LFA language: 4.8l V8 engine, developing 553 hp at 8,700 rpm and 480 Nm of torque at 6,800 rpm, a six-speed automated sequential gearbox, naught to sixty sprint in 3.7 seconds and a top speed rated at 325 km/h (202 mph).
“This program offers a unique opportunity to experience the 552 horsepower Lexus LFA supercar in its natural environment,” said Mark Templin, group vice president and general manager, Lexus Division.
“Lapping Infineon and tips from the professional drivers will certainly enhance the overall LFA ownership experience.”
The car costs in excess of $375,000 and, since no mention of a fee has been made, Lexus will probably not charge (much) for the training session.
“Once you’ve driven the LFA on a race track, you can really appreciate this engineering accomplishment,” added Templin. “Track time with the LFA will change all preconceived ideas of what a supercar should be.”
