You know those earthquake drills in school where you should get under the desk if the earth starts to shake. Well, that is not quite a god idea if the desk is not strong enough to support a huge chunk of ceiling.
A student from Bezalel University in Jerusalem however, came with a new desk design that is a lot stronger and with help from Lexus, he hopes to introduce it in as many learning facility as he can.
The redesigned table has reinforced legs and supplementary strengthening girders, calculated to support a bigger load than a standard school desk, thus keeping pupils sheltered from any falling debris.
The video bellow speaks for itself and you can see how both the standard and the reinforced desks behave when 500 kg (1102 lb) of construction materials are dropped on them.
