Every once in a while, we encounter a sea-faring ship that stands apart from others we've seen. Such is the case with the as-good-as-new Le Pietre, a sailing yacht that's currently up for grabs.
Folks, €4,750,000 ($5.08M at current exchange rates) is what you and seven other family and friends will need to get their hands on the sailing yacht before you today. Oh, while we've featured sailing yachts on our web pages before, the Le Pietre is worthy of attention because it boasts one of the best displays of classic meets modern that I've seen in some time. But, don't be fooled, this one is a very new ship, even having seen an extensive refit just this year, 2024.

Now, Le Pietre's story begins in 2009, when Ada Yacht Works finally launched this haven into international waters. If you're not familiar with Ada Yachts, allow me to point out that this Turkish crew has been around since 1993 and has grown to be a force to be reckoned with, capable of building ships of up to 50 m in length—that's half a football field without the endzones.

That makes the Le Pietre a rather young ship in terms of lifespan, and I already mentioned the fact that it completed a refit just this year, including another in 2021, and as a result, boasts that wonderful blend of classic and modern I brought to your attention.

As for what's in store for interested buyers, this ship is 39 m (128 ft) long and has an 11.4-foot draft, all of which goes to create a ship that can reach a 12-knot (14 mph) top speed and brings four cabins, lounges, galley, and expansive deck to life. Oh, those brand-new teak decks you see are all part of the recent refit.

Our journey into Le Pietre begins on the main deck at the very rear of the ship, underneath the shade of a retractable bimini integrated into the boom. Here, an open space lets you and guests lounge around and exchange business plans for next year or you could take a seat in front of the cabin. Beyond that, and toward the foremast, more lounge beds pop into view.

Just think about what your summer would be like waking up to the dawn of a new day as you sip an espresso while sitting around on one of these beds. You can enjoy breakfast up here, too, or better yet, let's go indoors and have a seat with the rest of the family who may be up at this hour.

As we enter the main cabin from the pilot house, you may get a feeling that you're no longer on the same ship; while the exterior presents a classic and, dare I say, turn-of-the-era look, the interior takes us and drops us right in the middle of modern elegance.

Simple yet finely crafted furnishings invite you and your guests with wooden surfaces balanced by leather and fabric seating, all of which are illuminated with natural light through two levels of windows on either side of the space. Do check out that ceiling.

As you're sitting there enjoying a bite, you hear a thump coming from beyond the space. Curious, you decide to investigate, only to find yourself in the center of one of the ship's two master suites. Now, from the moment you step inside one of the two master suites found on board, you may feel as though you're no longer on a sailing yacht. Elevated beds are surrounded by the shiniest wood flooring, carpeting, desks, lounges to the sides, and ensuite bathrooms filled with marble.

Northrop & Johnson, one of the brokers for this deal, identifies these spaces as being "cozy." I call them downright worthy of every penny I could ever muster in this lifetime. I mean it; the attention to detail and balance of materials we see here rivals that of superyachts. The remaining guests don't have it bad either, with rooms mimicking the master suites but with fewer features, space, and different bedding arrangements.

The last bit of information you must know about the Le Pietre is that several toys are stuffed into its belly. These include a North Star tender with 130 hp, two kayaks, paddleboards, seascooters, a water ski, and a Ringo or towable raft. Be sure to check into what else you can bring along.

Now, I understand that not everyone has over $5M to spend on a ship like this to only use for vacations, so one clear solution to offsetting some of your costs, maybe even turning a profit in the process, would be to charter this puppy to willing adventurers. For the right price, you could end up paying off your initial cost and even turn a profit within a few years.
