The current generation of Mercedes Benz SL convertible has soldiered on against all odds due to its strength of character, but now a new one is coming, lighter, faster and more agile than its predecessor. Mercedes has announced that the last of the old SL’s, lot number 169.434, has rolled off the assembly line in Bremen, Germany last week.
The landmark vehicle is a Iridium Silver SL350 with sport package, and will be delivered to the Mercedes-Benz Museum.
“Every SL series is a milestone in the history of Mercedes-Benz,” said Michael Bock, the head of Mercedes-Benz Classic and CEO of the Mercedes-Benz Museum. “They are used for the car’s anniversary which we will celebrate in 2012. And that’s why we are particularly pleased that the last vehicle built in the R 230 series also enriched the collection.”
