When Lamborghini released the Terzo Millennio in collaboration with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology at the EmTech conference in 2017, everyone was surprised that the all-electric supercar had one motor per wheel and a supercapacitor. But nevertheless, the concept remains a concept to this day. What Lamborghini has in the pipeline for 2020 at the 2019 Frankfurt Motor Show is the LB48H, a hybrid hypercar that borrows some of the styling of the Terzo Millennio but with a few notable changes. Both the roof, front bumper, and front fenders are Aventador-esque if you look closely at the teaser, but the Y-shaped signature lights hark back to the concept.
“Can’t wait to see it? Just open your eyes to the future.” That’s how Lamborghini is riding on the hype train, and according to multiple reports, the LB48H has been already presented to prospective customers as a special-edition hypercar with hybrid technology in conjunction with the 6.5-liter naturally aspirated V12 of the mighty Aventador.
Given that the Raging Bull of Sant’Agata Bolognese will not replace the Aventador in 2020, it’s more or less clear the LB48H is a special edition instead of a series-production model.
