Lamborghini is celebrating the 100th birthday of its founder this year, but it's also the 50th anniversary of the legendary Miura. Without it, all our beloved supercar engines would be in the wrong place, and the Raging Bull wouldn't be something people consider tattooing.
To be honest, this Aventador-based homage is not perfect. But carrot cake is still better than no cake, right?
The model is called simply "Aventador Miura Homage" and it's poised to make its debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. It's the perfect venue for a 700 horsepower modern supercar with a retro paintjob.
The V12 car tries to honor the classic Marcello Gandini style by mirroring the two-tone paintjob. Of course, the Miura never had stealth-fighter body panels, or front air intakes the size of laundry baskets. In fact, we think the Fiat 124 Spider would look much better in thee colors.
In 2006, Lamborghini made a Miura concept that looked much better than this. Remember, classic Italian cars are supposed to have the curves of a woman, while the Aventador is the Gillette razor blade of a man.
But you're not just limited to this combo, as Lamborghini offers a choice of six main colors including Rosso Arancio Miura, Verde Scandal, and Blu Tahiti metallic. As for the wheels, they can either be gold or matte silver. For the interior, you can either go with black or Terra Emilia leather.
Production is going to be strictly limited to 50 units, each made by the Lamborghini Ad Personam craftsmen. They're the ones stitching those custom Miura 50th logos on the backrests and splashing the dash with carbon fiber.
As for the engine, we're a little disappointed. Even though Lamborghini has several versions of the 6.5-liter V12, this just comes with the 'basic' 700 horsepower unit.
Hopefully, this trend catches on, because we are hoping there's a tribute to the LM002 coming our way and based on the Urus from several generations in the future.
