Once you've reached a certain stage in life where you can look back and honestly pat yourself on the back for how well you've done for yourself, there's no sense in going back. So why is multi-millionaire "Lambo Guy" doing just that?
"Lambo Guy" is obviously not a real name. He is Adrian Portelli, also known as "Mr. Lambo," a young multi-millionaire with an incredible ascension to the upper echelons of fame and money.
He is among Australia's youngest and most successful businessmen, getting his foot through the door with a platform that initially ran luxury car giveaways. He's since branched out in investments and charity, but all his endeavors run parallel with his outrageous public persona – and the marketing stunts he pulls off regularly.
If the Portelli name rings a bell, it must be because you also know him as the owner of one of Melbourne's most outrageous car collections. After all, he didn't get the "Lambo Guy" moniker for nothing: Portelli has a very sweet spot for Lamborghinis, but he won't turn down a Koenigsegg or two, McLarens, Bentleys, Maybachs, and pretty much everything else in between. If it's luxury and insane, Portelli probably owns it already – or is planning to soon.
Portelli is also famous for turning a $3 million McLaren Senna GTR into the world's "first flying car" by craning it up 57 floors to his Melbourne penthouse. Since that May 2023 stunt, the Senna has been repainted to match the vibe of the penthouse and has come to its final resting place on a turntable in the living room. The fanciest piece of decoration ever.
This week, Portelli took delivery of yet another Lamborghini, a Huracan STO in a striking two-tone color combination that got him giggly with excitement. As expected, he posted video of the moment on social media and, based on his follow-up post, it got some haters "butt-hurt."
So Portelli is fighting back with humor and more than a dose of shadiness, if you know where to look.
Citing those who took offense with his "recent vehicle purchases," Portelli says he's "decided to tone it down and drive my little Audi A1 for a while." Not that there's anything wrong with the A1 if you're a normie, but compared to a garage packed with hypercars that start at $800,000, it's a poor man's car.
Count on a stunt queen to never stop stunting, though. While the sticker on the Audi reads, "My other car is a Lamborghini," the plate in the rear is a double-digit one. Far from toning it down, Portelli is showing his haters that, even when he tries to be a bit more like the rest of the world, he's still a notch above them.
On June 12, 2024, the Victoria "20" license-plate sold for $2.54 million, breaking the 2022 world record set by the Victoria "14" plate by a considerable margin. Portelli might be driving a "humble'' Audi, but that plate on it is worth more than an entire fleet of them.
