Back in May 2023, the Rimac Nevera smashed the 0-400-0 KPH record of the Koenigsegg Regera by 1.5 seconds. That would be 29.93 seconds from a standstill to 249 miles per hour and back to zero again, which is absolutely insane.
Christian von Koenigsegg decided to retest the plug-in hybrid twin-turbo V8 hypercar to see if there was more to squeeze out from the Regera's original record of 31.49 seconds. The mad lads from Sweden did it, clocking 28.81 seconds on the sole runway of Orebro Airport.

A year later, factory test driver Markus Lundh did it again with the non-assisted Jesko Absolut. Before going any further, it should be noted that Absolut means low-downforce spec. For track duties, the high-downforce Jesko Attack is the specification to have. That said, Markus recorded a staggering 27.83 seconds, hitting a top speed of 413 kilometers per hour in 1,617 meters of the runway's 3.4 kilometers. In the US of A, that's 256 miles per hour, 5,305 feet, and 2.11 miles.

As Christian explains in the video below, Markus broke his own record without any sort of active aero to create additional downforce when braking. The pictured Jesko Absolut puts out 1,600 metric ponies or 1,578 mechanical ones on E85 biofuel rather than regular unleaded gas.

During the 413-kph run, the Jesko Absolut further claimed the world records for acceleration from zero to 400 kilometers per hour, to 250 miles per hour, and from zero to 250 miles per hour and back to zero. Using industry-standard timing equipment from Racelogic, the Swedish marque recorded 18.82 seconds to 400 kilometers per hour, 19.20 seconds to 250 miles per hour (402 kilometers per hour), and 28.27 seconds in the 0-250-0 test. Of course, said times were verified by Racelogic in the United Kingdom.

Far quicker to 250 miles per hour than the quad-motor Croatian hypercar masterminded by Mate Rimac and company, the Jesko Absolut is – on paper – the fastest car in the world. Christian von Koenigsegg made it clear that Koenigsegg is targeting 330 to 350 miles per hour (531 to 563 kilometers per hour) from this carbon-fiber speed demon, putting it well above the 311-mph estimate of the Hennessey Venom F5 and the 305-mph Bugatti Chiron Super Sport 300+.

However, Koenigsegg and Hennessey still haven't managed to max out said vehicles. The Chiron Super Sport 300+, meanwhile, cannot crack into the 300s without removing the electronic speed limiter. In other words, road-going models make do with a top speed of 273 miles per hour (440 kilometers per hour).

The press release published by Koenigsegg today reads that a top speed run with the Jesko Absolut is a matter of when rather than if. "Now it is all down to tire testing, development, and approval before we finally can make an attempt at that record," said Christian von Koenigsegg.

That's not all, though. "In parallel, we plan to see what kind of records the Jesko Attack can achieve," added the technically inclined founder. Does that mean the Koenigsegg crew is preparing to tackle the Nurburgring? Only time will tell, but for reference, they will have to better the plug-in hybrid V6 turbo Mercedes-AMG ONE's 6:30.705 lap time.
