Unveiled at this year’s New York Auto Show, the brand-new 2014 Kia Soul is already scheduled to receive a new family member next year, in the form of an all-electric vehicle. Now, word has it the Korean automaker is pondering the introduction of an all-wheel drive version as well in order to keep the vehicle competitive in the subcompact crossover segment.
This piece of information comes via Kia World, who claims an AWD Kia Soul will arrive in dealerships “within the next couple of years”. According to our source, an all-wheel drive Kia Soul could rival the Renault Captur, the Ford EcoSport, the Opel Mokka, and the upcoming Volkswagen Taigun, although the latter is said to be launched only as a front-wheel drive vehicle.
Speculations about future Kia Soul models don’t stop here, as Kia World says a sportier version based on the Track’ster concept could also be in the works.
