Kia has recently presented Korea’s first electric vehicle, the Kia Ray EV, with the car only destined for the domestic Korean market. The car, which comes with a driving range of up to 139 km (86 miles), shares the production line with the combustion-engined model it is based on, a first in the world of EVs.
The electric version can be distinguished from the petrol one by a few exterior details, such as a flap in the front grille, which hides the charge inlet for the slow recharge mode, while the place of the fuel filler cap has been replaced by a cover for the fast recharge mode. In addition to that, we have a new aerodynamic design for the 14-inch alloy rims and ‘Zero Emissions EV’ decals on the front doors.
Kia is planning to produce 2,500 units of the Ray EV next year, which will be offered to government departments and public offices under the carmaker’s eco R&D program.
