Halfway through 2024, Japanese bike makers are increasingly busy getting their lineup ready for the next model year. As usual, these guys let loose revamped products in bulk, making it extremely difficult to make sense of things. Take Kawasaki, for instance, which just released details on two heavily refreshed models and no less than 17 returning bikes.
There are however, in this avalanche of new models, a couple that stands out the most. That's because the two, namely the KX250 and KX250X, have been seriously reworked for the 2025 model year.

The KX range has been around in Kawasaki's portfolio for half a century now, and the bikes that were produced over the years under the moniker have been extensively used by motorcross riders all over the world.

That is why the new versions of the KX250, says the Japanese company, have been designed with inspiration from the Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki racing team, a powerful name in AMA Supercross, Pro Motocross, and SuperMotocross.

The improvements made to the bikes target pretty much every aspect of them, from chassis and engine to rider assist systems and componentry.

When it comes to the engine, Kawasaki says there is now new tuning in place on the 249cc unit, as well as a new cylinder head with straight exhaust port and center exhaust.

The perimeter frame is now an aluminum piece around which a very light bodywork is wrapped. The suspension, the same as before, now comes with new settings on the KX250X.

The list of novelties that make the 2025 Kawasaki KX250 and KX250X what they are also includes smartphone connectivity, a traction control switch installed on the handlebar, and lock-on grips.

Kawasaki will be selling the KX250 for $8,999, and the bike is already available to configure in its 2025 incarnation.

The changes made to the motocross bike are accompanied for the 2025 model year by upgrades made to the Elektrode balance bikes. Two models are on the table, the 20 and 20S and they both are meant to introduce kids and teens to the world of motorcycles later on.

Both bikes use 20-inch wheels to move along, and they spin under the power supplied by a new 750W in-wheel brushless electric motor. The top speed the bikes can reach is 24 mph (39 kph), while the in-frame battery should last for as much as three hours. Kawasaki is charging $1,099 for the entry-level Elektrode.

I said earlier the announcement of the changes made to the KX250 was accompanied by the confirmed return of several other motorcycles, including four Ninjas. They are all listed below, but for the 2025 model year they offer nothing they didn't offer before.
