As the 2010 of the Goodwood Festival of Speed approaches, a more-than-exciting piece of news related to last’ year’s edition of the show has hit the web.The Jaguar XKR Goodwood concept, which was introduced at the 2009 Festival, will enter series production, as PistonHeads reports.
The production version of the upcoming extra-hot XKR should be a top supercar, as the vehicle has managed to lap the Nurburgring in 7 minutes 58 seconds.
"This is definitely not a level of performance anyone would have associated with the XKR before now," Jaguar boss Mike O'Driscoll told the aforementioned source, describing the car’s Nurburgring achievement.
Jaguar has not revealed the details of the car, only saying that its top speed will play in the 186 mph club, offering the car the 300 km/h status, a sought-after asset on the German market.
The car will be based on the concept, which was powered by a forced-induction 5.0 liter V8 unit that used supercharging to deliver 530 hp and a maximum torque of 516 lb-ft of torque (700 Nm). The figures can be translated into a 13 hp & 55 lb-ft (74 Nm) increase over the level offered by the standard XKR. The engine allowed the coupe to leave the 62 mph (100 km/h) mark behind in 4.6 seconds. The one-off car also came with 21-inch alloy rims, a lowered suspension and a modified exhaust system.
