Jaguar XFR Sportbrake Just Might Happen!

The Germans may have invented the super-estate car, which blends the extreme practicality and versatility of an estate, with the performance of a supercar, in one neat and usually not very fussy package. However, with the XF Sportbrake, Jaguar now has a very good base to make one of their own - an XFR Sportbrake.
This is not pure speculation, according to autocar.co.uk, who quote Jaguar’s global brand director, Adrian Hallmark, as saying that the idea of a super-hot version of the XF estate is ‘interesting’. With this, Hallmark unwillingly (or not) admits that the concept has been looked over and analyzed.

It seems that the only real hurdle is, of course, the cost of reengineering the complicated self-leveling rear suspension, which could not cope well the kind of driving XFR owners may fancy from time to time.

Hallmark said: “It would be tricky to re-engineer the self-levelling rear suspension to cope with the high performance of such an engine.” He went on to add that the prospect of doing a limited run of 300 or 400 XFR Sportbrakes is a very promising one.
