Just recently, we got interesting news about both protagonists of this Canadian-style drag-and-roll race pairing. Sadly, it wasn't the exact examples seen here – these two were smokin' feisty.
Earlier this month, some rare Porsche took over New York City, and also the guests of the 2024 Met Gala were the first to experience the all-new, all-electric Porsche Macan, the inaugural official electric car of the event. Meanwhile, Porsche is also preparing for the upcoming arrival of the first-ever 911 Hybrid on May 28. So, it's interesting to see that they're more electrified than ever, especially given the arrival of the mighty Porsche Taycan Turbo GT.

Switching over to Jaguar, it seems the rumors about the brand's demise have subdued, and the British premium automaker revealed the final run of the F-Pace SUVthe 90th Anniversary Edition is meant to honor its 90th birthday in 2025. Still, it's going to be a bittersweet swansong because the luxury CUV will be killed off in favor of EVs. Oh well, none of that matters for at least a while longer.

Instead, let's head out to Canada to Sam's well-known stretch of tarmac next to cornfields and windmills – a former airstrip is now host to his drag and race-roll shenanigans. Sam, the host of the Sam CarLegion channel on YouTube, has prepared the latest encounter for our delight: a 2023 Porsche Macan GTS faces off with a 2024 Jaguar F-Pace SVR.

Wait a minute, don't start jumping to conclusions. We know – the channel also showcased the technical specifications – that the Brit is vastly overpowered compared to the German foe. Yes, the F-Pace crossover SUV gets a mighty 5.0-liter supercharged V8 with 550 horsepower under the hood, all sent through an eight-speed automatic to the AWD system to move no less than 4,809 pounds (2,181 kg) of steel, plastic, leather, and rubber, according to Sam.

And yes, the Porsche Macan GTS looks severely underpowered when displaying a 2.9-liter twin-turbo V6, churning out 434 horsepower and 405 lb-ft of torque through the PDK and AWD systems. However, this is Porsche that we are talking about, sorry Jaguar. Besides, the equilibrium factor is simple – Jaguar's CUV has more ponies, while Porsche's contender has fewer kilos under its belt, as it tips the scales at 4,332 pounds or 1,964 kg. As such, this is going to be a very interesting set of skirmishes, indeed.

Well, Sam touts this as being 'closer than ever,' but that's only valid for the two roll races – one performed at 60 kph or (around) 37 mph and the other at 80 kph or about 50 mph. In fact, it's a balanced act of performance, as the lighter Macan GTS is nimbler at lower speeds, and the F-Pace SVR finally comes into its own when the higher speeds allow it to take advantage of its bigger displacement and additional ponies. The drag races, on the other hand, are clearly Porsche's domain – the first one shows about a car's length difference, and the final battle clocks the Macan GTS at 12.2 seconds followed by the F-Pace SVR at 12.3 seconds, the main reason for the loss being the faster zero to 60 mph (96 kph) time of the Porsche.

Sadly, though, we won't see any more battles like this one in the near future – Porsche has given up on ICE-powered Macan SUVs for the new generation, and Jaguar's future remains uncertain past the current model line. But, in the end, the question is simple – which is your favorite?
