Recently there's been a growing trend around the US. People are buying vintage (or at least really old) cars to sell them later on as classics. That's fine by us, more beautiful cars salvaged from the scrapheap.
However, you have to be careful when deciding to buy such a car, because they don't come cheap in the first place, and they might also have some pretty nasty problems to sort out.

The guys from Jalopnik even have a special section called "Nice Price or Crack Pipe" where they put up different ads to let people judge if they are worth the money or are just another useless piece of rubbish wrapped up in a beautiful package.

This week the car in question is a 1985 E28 535i that was a 'track car that is street legal' according to the seller. We're not really sure what he means by track car since there's no roll cage installed and the rest of the vehicle seems pretty much stock.

Oh, wait! This car is not stock! It has some interesting sheepskin seat covers, some Alpina Turbine wheels (even though the owner claims they are BBS), a sport steering wheel and a short stick for the gearbox.

The biggest improvement though, is the NOS system installed, with a blue tank in the boot. It seems that it comes from a company called Discrete (so discrete nobody ever heard of it) and it will blow your knockers off.

However, we wouldn't recommend this car to anyone for a couple of simple reasons: It's obvious the car was drag raced to death and the NOS system (if it really works) must've destroyed the engine up until now. Furthermore, the transmission might also be beat, considering how the owner brags about his racing DNA.

If you look closely, the driver's side front fender has a dent in it and the overall look of the car just doesn't inspire a mint condition. For $5000, it's a nice price but repair work might set you back another couple of thousand and that is just not worth it.
