Lincoln could reintroduce some of its iconic nameplates on vehicles destined to be sold in China. As crazy as this may sound, this piece of information comes right from Jim Farley, Ford’s executive vice president of global marketing.
According to a recent report from USA Today, Farley noted that Lincoln has “a lot of iconic names” that could be used on Chinese models when the luxury brand is relaunched over there. The reason behind such decision would be that the Chinese still remember the luxury label for its historically famous models, such as the Continental range.
While we can’t argue with Farley, we can’t help but wonder why Ford doesn’t want to bring the Continental nameplate back to the US as well. It’s not like the Americans have forgotten all about it after 45 years of production.
Getting back to what Farley had to say, nothing’s official for now, which means we’ll be seeing more of Lincoln’s MK-ed naming strategy in the future...
