The good folks over at the racing-focused ImportRace channel on YouTube are not at their usual venue - Island Dragway in Great Meadows, New Jersey. Instead, they're visiting MIR - Maryland International Raceway, not the former Soviet Union and Russian low orbit modular space station.
Although, if we come to think about it, they do have in common the fact that both were serviced by veritable rockets. Of course, in keeping with the proportions, the Mechanicsville, Maryland-based location doesn't get things that fly – they just jet across the dragstrip.

Anyway, this event seen at MIR is part of RaceMotive's schedule of 65-mile rolls – which feature street cars only, and include Pocono Raceway, Maryland International Raceway, Maple Grove Raceway, and the New Jersey Motorsports Park. Pocono is the most visited venue with six events, but MIR has much action, too – with roll and drag racing, street cars and bikes, a car show, and even a drifting exhibition.

Of course, we are deeply interested in the track action, and this recent video embedded below focuses on an iridescent apparition – a Ford Mustang Shelby GT350 dressed to impress in a mirror finish. It's probably a ruse to make the rivals fear big reflections that would blind them when the 'Stang is in front of them.

However, always expect the unexpected at the track – even when dealing with something that looks like this Mustang and supposedly hides 1,400 horsepower under the hood. Yep, that's almost twice the power of the new S650 Ford Mustang GTD, which is making the rounds as the Blue Oval is preparing for the 24 Hours of Le Mans this weekend (June 15-16) and a world record lap attempt at the Nürburgring Nordschleife.

Back to MIR, this shiny Mustang first raced against an 800-hp BMW M240i xDrive, and the roll race was not just putting this massively powerful Ford into the proper perspective but also writing home to be enshrined in the book of closest battles. Ultimately, the GT350 prevailed, but only at a top speed of 165.66 versus 165.44 miles per hour!

Obviously, thinking it could do better, the BMW driver called for a rematch. Well, this time around, the Ford driver didn't want another instance of the 'too close for comfort' variety and stomped on the accelerator pedal for a glorious 175 versus 157 mph victory. With this being said, the American muscle car moved on to find other import prey.

This time it found a couple of Audi models, and the driver went up the sports car chain of command by starting with an Audi TT RS that was strong but not strong enough – hence the 172 versus 184 mph loss! Last but not least, a mighty 1,600 horsepower Audi R8 rolled along for the ride, and the audience probably thought that America's GT350 had finally met its match. Nope, it also got stomped and rolled!
