Sometimes, people will ask me about the quickest way to get a big Hot Wheels collection. There are several answers, but if you prefer quantity over quality, look at the Mainline series.
If you start buying each new case, you'll have 15 boxes at the end of the year. Each one contains 72 collectibles, so that adds up to 1,080 items. Of course, they won't all be different. But it's a pretty impressive number, regardless. You'll discover new castings, colors, and special vehicles with every new set. And today, we're looking at what's inside Case M for 2024. I haven't bought an entire case for at least two years, but I'd love to get my hands on one to open it up.

Here it is, the 12th Treasure Hunt for 2024. I added two of them to my collection this year, but I am not eager to get the whole line-up. Mix L's Car-de-Asada was yet another Fantasy release, but that's quite common with this series nowadays. The Hot Wheels Ford Transit Connect is now in the spotlight, but I can't show you the final product yet.

I haven't seen any sneak peeks of it, and it was not inside the case in this video. The car in the photo above is the 2017 TH variation, and it's not that enticing. The 2021 HW Metro release in light gray (thanks to the Aerodisc wheels) is the only iteration that sparks any interest. The sad news is that the new TH could have TRAP5 wheels on, which is annoying.

Super Treasure Hunt

I think I speak for all (or at least most collectors) when I say the new Super Treasure Hunt is a hit! JDM fans will love it, and it has been successful since its 2015 debut. Dmitriy Shakhmatov designed the model, and you may remember some of his other projects, like the Porsche 911 GT3 RS, the '16 Mercedes-AMG GT3, and the '84 Audi Sport Quattro, to name just a few. Until 2023, Mattel developed 10 variations for it; only one was a Premium design.

Five years have passed since that Car Culture release, so the STH variation is a nice addition. Designers nailed the color combo, as Spectraflame Dark Blue looks great in contrast with the white Real Riders 6-Spoke wheels. You're looking at the third and final Japanese STH model for 2024, and some sellers are asking as much as $213 for it on eBay. But if you don't mind having a loose version, $35 should still do the trick.

Case M Highlights

Let's see what else is hiding inside Case M. It's a big year for the '73 Honda Civic Custom, as it's joining the Car Culture line-up soon. We saw two variations for it in 2023, and we're getting three this year. The yellow one wasn't half bad, but it looks much better in blue with the white three-spoke rims. I'm more enthusiastic about the '94 Audi Avant RS2, though.

Mattel went for a Metalflake Teal finish on this eighth variation, and I'd almost say it's better than the ZAMAC model. The '49 Drag Merc has been off the market for a decade, as we last saw it in the 2014 HW Road Trippin' mini-series. It was redesigned, but I'd have to see both new and old up close to determine the differences.

It's great in this Silver-ZAMAC finish, and I'm happy to see Mattel hasn't dropped the curtains on it yet. Fraser Campbell designed the Ravenger S/T muscle car; some kids might enjoy it. It's a brand-new casting, but I will probably ignore it. One of these days, I need to add the Ford Performance Supervan 4 to my collection, and the new iteration is even better than the First Edition. As with all Mainline cases, plenty of repeat models are inside, which isn't entirely bad.

But I'll only focus on the items that bring something new. The '92 Dodge Viper RT/10 looks stunning in yellow, and you might as well get the red one while you're at it. I'm not the one to usually take an interest in fantasy castings, but we can all tell where the Dune Daddy comes from. We haven't seen it since the 2022 iD series, and the new iteration is almost tempting if you can look past the muddy wheels.

If Toni Breidinger rings a bell, you may remember the special Hot Wheels Toyota GR86 Cup casting in 2023. The Mainline version will be easily available to anyone, although it's not on the same level. With the right color combo, it could be quite successful.

Maybe we'll even see a Car Culture release; who knows? In only a few years, you could have collected ten variations of the '91 GMC Syclone (two of which were Premium cars). The new one features a typical '90s design and is pretty good for its price range. The Hirohata Merc is equally exciting in Apple Green/Gold, and some of you may know it's heading to the Super Treasure Hunt series in 2025.

The Cadillac Project GTP Hypercar ditched the Black paint job for a Metalflake Dark Blue one, and I get the feeling it may end up as a peg-warmer. That may very well be the case for the '67 Ford GT40 Mk.IV, as there are at least two or three other better options on the market. Skipping over the new colors for the Quick Bite and the '99 Ford F-150 SVT Lightning, people will lose their minds when the '16 Bugatti Chiron arrives.

Hot Wheels Bugattis are always immensely popular. And I can't help but wonder if we'll see a replica of the new Tourbillon soon. If there's one more collectible I'll keep an eye out for, it's the '68 Dodge Dart in dark red. It has been on my mind for some time now, and I'm eager to see another Premium release soon. While I can't deny the Sushi Tuner sounds like a fun idea, I'd still pick the '23 Ram 1500 over it any day of the week.
