One might think that with Ford launching the S650 generation Mustang last year, we'd see less action involving its predecessor. However, that's not the case, as the older muscle car can still throw a serious punch, especially in the range-topping configuration.
The previous-gen Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 has proved its worth against ultra-fast rides countless times. It has a V8 motor with supercharging and a 5.2-liter displacement that steams out 760 horsepower (771 ps/567 kW) at the crank. The thrust is rated at 627 pound-foot (847 Nm) of torque.

Some may rightfully say that Dodge's old Hellcat series is punchier in the top flavors, but the Shelby GT500 is certainly no slouch. It is a ten-second car with a skilled driver at the wheel and a perfect takeoff, and the 0-60 mph (0 to 97 kph) is dealt with in roughly three seconds. Thus, the pony model is quicker in a straight line than some iconic older supercars (ahem, Ferrari Enzo!).

Over the years, this generation has engaged in countless battles down the quarter mile with some serious machines, winning some and losing others. However, it's quite difficult to put the S550 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 in its corner, and not many vehicles can do that. But what about an Infiniti Q50? We kid you not, as the sports sedan was recently filmed taking on the mighty muscle car.

The video we just stumbled upon was uploaded by a lesser-known channel on YouTube a few days ago and shows a direct battle between the two different models. At a little over one minute long, it was filmed from inside the Q50's rear windshield, and while that may not be the best angle, it is certainly enough to reveal which of the two crossed the finish line first.

Mind you, this wasn't your regular Infiniti Q50. First, it is in the hot Red Sport 400 configuration, so it puts 400 horsepower (406 ps/299 kW) and 350 pound-foot (375 Nm) of torque under the driver's right foot. Power comes from a 3.0-liter V6 with dual turbos, which allows it to reach 60 mph in some four and a half seconds.

Thus, it is less powerful and one and a half seconds slower than its ad-hoc rival. However, this is where the second part comes into play, as this Q50 has been heavily modified. The video's description reveals the amount of work that went into it, and it is punchier than the Shelby GT500. The uploaded (and owner) says it unleashes 760 horsepower (771 ps/567 kW) at the wheels, so it is one serious machine.

But is that enough to pose a threat to the mighty muscle car, or will the latter simply annihilate it? Only one way to find out!
