The Infiniti Q50 is probably the least well known car in the executive compact, this despite Infiniti's best efforts to make a highly competitive rival for BMW's 3 Series.
Part of the problem has always been the lack of a complete engine range. We complained about it time and time again, and Infiniti was probably listening. The automaker today announced a new four-cylinder turbo powertrain for the Q50, adding to the existing 2.2-liter diesel, V6 and V6 hybrid units the have.
The 2-liter turbo comes as a result of the collaboration with Mercedes and as a result the specs are quite similar. Its 1911cc block (that's what the release says, but we think it's actually 1.991cc – 83mm x 92mm bore and stroke) has direct injection and produces 214 PS or 211 bhp. Torque is a deceont 320 Nm or 236 lb-ft, which Infiniti say is available from just 1,250 rpm.
The Q50 turbo model is being revealed right now at the Guangzhou Motor Show and will go on sale in China in spring 2014. Other markets will follow soon after.
