Even though it’s only the second official presence at the Sturgis rally after a rather lengthy break, something tells us that the South Dakota event will become the reference point for launching the upcoming models. After opening a dealership in Sturgis at 2106 Lazelle Street this spring, Indian Motorcycles announces that the 2015 models will be revealed during the August 2-9 rally.
Sturgis was the place chosen by Indian to reveal their all-new models last year, a move which really stole the show, given the huge anticipation of the new motorcycles and the complete absence of any spy shots. First introducing the all new Thunder Stroke 111 v-twin engine and samples of its revving grunt, Indian was also able to capitalize the moment with the presence of its “ambassador” Mike Wolfe of American Pickers fame.
Indian Motorcycle will also offer hands-on product demonstrations, apparel sales, accessory display and more, with the participants to these events also being offered the chance to win a 2015 Indian bike. Judging by the very warm welcome the new Indian bikes received last year and the rising sales figures, we can expect to see an even higher interest in the 2015 models at the upcoming Sturgis rally.
Industry specialists predict that Indian will probably sell more units in 2014 than Victory, the other motorcycle brand under Polaris ownership. As much as 15,000 Indians are rumored to be pushed this year, but so far Polaris has been rather secretive as far as the sales go. Some riders are asking themselves for how long will Indian keep the three-bike line-up, but the answer to such a question is a completely different story altogether.
