Hyundai is one of the carmakers with the biggest ambitions and one of the ways at which the company is looking to achieve success is the introduction of a Genesis luxury sub-brand. This idea has been reported in the past, but the lack of an official confirmation or move has sent the rumor away.
However, Automotive News (Sub. Req.) now reports that the carmaker is still considering the idea, with the new sub-brand potentially taking models such as the Equus, Genesis Sedan and Genesis Coupe under its wing.
The vehicle would receive a new alphanumeric designation and would be sold in the same dealerships, but with a clear distinction. It seems that Hyundai could opt for selling the cars with dealer-installed badges.
However, Dave Zuchowski, executive vice president of sales for Hyundai Motor America, told Automotive News that the company would also introduce a redesign for these models, not just new badges, which means that if the move gets the green light, it won’t come earlier than next year.
