Hyundai has finally introduced their smallest car ever to the Indian market. The Eon city car will is meant as a low cost competitor to the country’s best seller, the Maruti-Suzuki Alto.
The body of the car was designed in South Korea and follows the automaker’s ‘Fluidic Sculture’ design language. The Eon is 3,495mm long, 1,500mm tall, 1,550mm wide, and has a wheelbase length of 2,380mm, which means is slightly smaller than the i10 hatch available in Europe.
The Eon reportedly seats five people and is powered by an 800 cc three-cylinder engine that produces only 56 horsepower. On the combined Indian cycle, this frugal little unit does 21.1 km/l which is equivalent to 49.7 mpg or 4.7 l/100km.
We like the look of the Indian Hyundai, especially round the back where we spot half moon shape tail lamps. No wonder they’ve reportedly received 25,000 orders for this car. Consumption and price are the obvious selling points.
