Chevrolet has been abundant with first-ever stuff lately. Just think about the C8 Corvette's journey since its debut in 2019 or the fresh all-electric lineup currently consisting of the Equinox and Blazer EVs plus the big Silverado WT and RST EV pickup trucks.
The US automaker is currently making the rounds of the rumor mill with its latest teaser for yet another C8 Corvette derivative – after the up-to-495-hp Stingray, the 670-hp flat-plane record-breaking Z06, and the first-ever 655-hp Corvette E-Ray with a hybrid engine and electrified AWD, now it's almost the right time to welcome in the latest iteration of the Corvette ZR1 flagship.

The latest teaser has shed more light on its powertrain through the fumes – the distinctive sounds of twin turbos can be heard on the soundtrack, and the rocket Easter Egg points to its sibling relationship to the Z06's engine. Basically, we understand from here that the ZR1 will be a Z06 with even more aero and a couple of big turbos attached to the FPC V8 engine – the first turbocharged mill in Corvette's history.

How about the imaginative realm of digital car content creators? Well, it seems they're not exactly falling prey to the C8 Corvette ZR1 hype, even though some of them want to have something to do with Chevrolet. For example, Vince Burlapp (aka vburlapp on social media) is a prolific virtual artist who loves to dream of all the latest models across the wide-ranging automotive realm, and now he wonders 'what if' General Motors approved another member in the zero emissions family to balance the crazy supercar shenanigans from Team Corvette?

More precisely, this pixel master believes that the all-new 2024 Chevy Traverse, which recently landed as a third-generation model at nationwide dealerships starting from $37,600, could be next in line for the BEV3 x Ultium treatment. After all, Cadillac has the Optiq as a counterpart of the Equinox EV, the Lyriq as the Blazer EV from another EV mother, and could easily put two and two together and make a 2026 Chevrolet Traverse EV to stand right beside the upcoming three-row 2026 Cadillac Vistiq. Right?

After all, the ICE-powered Chevy Traverse has more foes than ever – Toyota Grand Highlander, Mazda CX-90, Kia Telluride, and Hyundai Palisade, or the eternal Dodge Durango and Ford Explorer. Sure, the US automaker wisely moved the Traverse into the full-size CUV sector, but let's face it – customers will still cross-shop it with the aforementioned mid-size models. A Chevy Traverse EV would definitely help it stand out in any crowd, right?

Of course, this unofficial illustration is merely wishful thinking at the moment. But it still makes sense. Chevrolet is about to unleash an all-new Bolt EV or EUV on the market as the definitive all-electric crossover that's more affordable than what Tesla has in store because it will come below the $35k Equinox EV. So, why not also a full-size Traverse EV offering to complete the range?
