When a car runs away from the police, the driver, and maybe also the passengers, has a good reason for doing that and we’re here to give you a complete menu of a recent hot pursuit that took place in the Miami-Dade County.
Appetizer: 3 young men, of which one was a juvenile, had teamed-up to perform robberies, with houses being their area of expertise. However, their latest adventure saw them escalating the situation to a point where they were trying to use a Mercedes E-Class to escape the police.
Main Course: the chase kicked off in the proximity of the Golden Gates and the Palmetto, with the Merc loosing a tire not too long after the driver refused to stop. However, this didn’t stop the three.
The inevitable eventually happened, as the driver mixed high-speed, the aforementioned lost tire with in-traffic swerving maneuvers performed on a rear-wheel drive vehicle. As the driver made a violent left turn, the car oversteered violently, he wasn’t able to catch it, went up on two wheels and hit the rear of a vehicle that was traveling through the area. The E-Class eventually came to a stop in the green area next to the exit ramp Broward Boulevard in Ft. Lauderdale.
Desert: two of the suspects tried to flee the scene on foot, but they were quickly captured by hte law enforcers. All three were wanted for home burglaries in southern Miami-Dade County. One of them, a 17-year old called George Westbrook, was identified by his family. He now faces residential burglary, criminal mischief and grand theft auto.
The other two, Brandon Atwell (19) and Jermaine Williams (21) should face the same charges, but they will be trialed as adults. Westbrook was identified by his family, who saw the whole scene on TV and he cooperated with the officers, taking the back to the houses the team had robbed.
Cheque: do not try this at home, literally.
