The first photos with the Honda Crider, which is the production version of the Honda Concept C, have surfaced on the web with less than 24 hours ahead of the vehicles debut at the 2013 Shanghai Auto Show.
Conceived as a niche sedan to be slotted below the Honda Accord but above the Civic, the Crider will compete with cars such as the Volkswagen Sagitar and the Citroen C4L once it hits the Chinese market in early this summer. The new Honda could also be rivaled by the incoming Hyundai Mingtu.
Just like the Accord, the Honda Crider will be built by the Guangzhou-Honda joint venture and speculation has it the sedan might be subjected to exports to other Asian markets. Going further in the rumor mill, the Crider could receive 1.8 and 2.0-liter engines mated to five-speed manual and automatic transmissions.
In case you were wondering, the Crider name is derived from the words “Criteria” and “Dream”.
