When Honda said that it wants to give the KTM X-Bow and the Ariel Atom a run for their money they weren’t kidding and the 2&4 Project is the first step in this direction.
As you probably already know, Honda is also a quite successful motorcycle manufacturer and bringing out a ‘creation’ that blended both a bike and a car was only a matter of time, after all. Unlike the other creations that want to raise your adrenaline levels to never before seen heights, Honda actually can build the best of both worlds. KTM for example is limited to bikes while the Ariel Atom is the only car of its kind.
The 2&4 Project is now unveiled in Frankfurt and it has drawn a lot of looks, most people going silent once the veils were off. Why? Well, it depends on the angle you look at it.
From the front, it feels like any other out-of-this-world car that wants to take tracks by storm. It’s a four-wheeler with a steering wheel and a seat and that’s about it. Yeah, it’s impressive but it doesn’t feel as ludicrous as it does when you get a better grasp of what’s on the table here.
You see, when you check it out from its left side, the driver’s seat is revealed and you start noticing that there’s no protection whatsoever included here. Yes, you’re basically floating around and you’d better pray to whatever deity you believe in that you don’t crash, especially on the side or get in a rollover.
You do get a four-point seat belt but let’s be honest, how much good can that do in case things get serious?
Under the proverbial bonnet, there’s a Honda superbike engine, a 1-liter V4 four-stroke unit making 215 HP and 118 Nm (87 lb-ft) of torque. It may not seem like much but if you do the math, you’ll find that it brings a ratio of over 500 HP/ton to the mix. How come? Well, the 2&4 Project weighs just 405 kg (893 lbs). Oh yes, this is truly an adrenaline infusing machine!
