Honda has just expanded the European Accord Type S lineup with a petrol engine that raises the maximum output level to 201 horsepower, up from 180 horsepower originally produced by the 2.2-liter turbo diesel. Launched at this year's Geneva Auto Show and sold in the United States as Acura TSX, the Accord Type S is now powered by either a 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine, already available on other Accord flavors and generating 201 horsepower, or a 2.2-liter turbo diesel unit generating 180 horsepower, 30 hp more than the standard model.
The aforementioned engines can be mated to a 6-speed manual transmission or an automatic gearbox. There are two bodystyles available, sedan and tourer, and two exterior colors, Premium White Pearl and Basque Red.
The Type S is a special version of the Accord that comes with no engineering upgrades but with several styling enhancements, including an aerodynamic kit that comprises sporty front and rear aprons, 18-inch alloy wheels, side skirts and chrome grille.
As for the interior, the car boasts aluminum sport pedals and footrest, sport seats and the usual leather gear shift we've seen on many top-of-the-range cars.
In case you like what you see and think to buy the newly launched Accord Type S 2.4L, you should probably know that the Japanese manufacturer will only offer it as a limited edition. Still, we don't know for sure how many units Honda will actually build but, according to Carscoop, Germany will get around 900 vehicles. Pricing starts at 32,000 euros ($46,100).
