Having digested Gymkhana 8 and its Dubai stunts earlier this year, we now need to quench our Gymkhana 9 thirst (yep, this is hooning consumerism) and we've got just the thing for that.
We're talking about a photo showing Ken the drifter Block shooting the ninth installment of the franchise in Buffalo, New York. Local sailing aficionado Pat Brady says he was kayaking on the Niagra River over the weekend and, as any good kayaker, the man had packed a DSLR camera.
As a result, we can now see the DC Shoes owner and what should be the vicious Ford Focus RS RX playing Bridge (this is how Ken Block does it) with a helicopter and its mighty camera.
Ah, yes, the badass Ford Focus RS RX. Ken Block is fielding this monster in the 2016 FIA World Rallycross Championship and a quick glance at its specs show us why the contraption got the Gymkhana 9 role. Also, you can check out the velocity monster in the images to your right.
Forget the 350 hp of the standard 2016 Ford Focus RS, if we may call the manic hatch so.Instead of the street car's 2.3-liter EcoBoost turbocharged two-liter unit, we get another turbo four EcoBoost, this time tweaked by Ford Performance and racing partner M-Sport. The RX badge means this compact packs no less than 600 horsepower and 664 lb-ft (that's 900 Nm, you metric system fans) of twist. The stick shift if gone (perhaps KB will include such a feature in a future adventure), having been replaced by a Sadev-supplied six-speed sequential unit.
And, thanks to a clever all-wheel-drive system, the Focus can play the 0 to 60 mph (96 km/h) game in under two seconds - too bad this isn't a street car, so it could silence Tesla and it's 2.5s Model S P100D.
Regardless, leave it to Ken Block to show us what happens when such a machine is put to serious slip angle work.
