What do you do if you’re Hennessey and have an airstrip at your disposal? You pit your McLaren MP4-12C against the stock thing, obviously. The tuner has recently released a clip that shows its HPE700 Mac drag racing the standard McLaren MP4-12C.
The HPE700 upgrade takes the twin-turbo unit of the McLaren MP4-12C from 616 HP (625 PS) to 704 HP (714 PS), while the torque raises from 443 lb-ft (600 Nm) to 538 lb-ft (730 Nm).
As you can see in the clip. Hennessey’s McLaren jumps ahead from the very start and expands its lead slowly but steadily. However, as the speed increased, the gap between the two doesn’t seem to continue growing too much.
Here are the full specs of the McLaren MP4-12C HPE700:
• Engine Management Software Upgrade (external from factory ECU)
• Intercooler Heat Exchanger Cooling Upgrade
• Dual Air Induction Filters
• Stainless Steel Exhaust System Upgrade
• Professional Installation
• Dyno Tuning & Road Testing
• Serial-Numbered Dash & Engine Plaques
• HPE700 Exterior Badging
• Hennessey Exterior Badging
• 1 Year / 12,000 Mile Limited Warranty
Performance:
• 0-60 mph: 2.8 sec.
• 1/4 mile: 10.3 sec. @ 137 mph
