Jamie Sonuga and the Officially Gassed crew have found three heavily modified examples of the GR Yaris, with outputs ranging from 570 ps (562 hp) to a staggering 700 ps (690 hp). All three had their bone-stock manuals replaced with sequential trannies, yet one stands out above the rest.
CR15 SGR is equipped with an X-Shift box with air-shift activation, which isn't exactly practical for street applications. On the other hand, it makes a world of difference in a good ol' dig race. X-Shift produces 5, 6, and 7-speed versions of its TY-7 Toyota GR Yaris transmission, which is capable of taking 1,600 Nm (1,180 pound-feet) of twist.
Pictured on Toyo Proxes R888R tires compared to Michelin PS4S/Continental SC7 and Nankank AR1 tires for the other two contenders, the most ballistic GR Yaris of the lot further boasts Kelford B cams for the SRD-built engine, which is a fully-forged affair. Equipped with a Precision 5862 turbo, a Syvecs engine control unit, Syvecs 4WD controller, and nitrous injection, CR15 SGR is actually capable of approximately 800 metric stallions.
The owner, Chris, didn't crank it up that high for these races, instead preferring to keep it nice and tidy at 700-odd metric ponies. As per the VBox performance meter, CR15 SGR clocked a best of 11.01 seconds in the quarter at 132.01 miles per hour (212.44 kilometers per hour). Of course, said numbers exclude the first foot of rollout.
Care to guess how Andrew and Pete did in their all-wheel-drive monsters? That would be 11.28 seconds at 126.25 miles per hour (203.17 kilometers per hour) for Pete's GR04 PJR and 11.29 seconds at 126.07 miles per hour (202.88 kilometers per hour) for Andrew's GR71 PPY.

Insane numbers, innit? Even more insane, CR15 SGR posted a staggering pull from 100 to 200 kilometers per hour, which means 62 to 124 miles per hour. Chris recorded 6.17 seconds over a distance of 268.52 meters, whereas Pete clocked 7.39 seconds in 326.46 meters. As for Andrew, his GR Yaris required 7.44 clicks and 324.20 meters.
Over in the United Kingdom, the GR Yaris can be had for as little as £44,250 with a manual or £45,750 for the newly introduced automatic transmission. The Special Edition Ogier and Rovanpera are pricier still at £60,000 on the road.
Converted to freedom eagles, them prices are $56,100 for the manual, $58,000 for the automatic, and $76,070 for the special editions. Quite pricey for B-segment hatchbacks, and even more so compared to the GR Corolla for the US market at $36,500 for the Core trim level with the manual.
However, there's no value-added tax to speak of in the United States. We also have to remember that automakers present in the UK and the EU jack up the prices of exciting cars like there's no tomorrow due to harsh fleet-wide targets for CO2 emissions. Anything above said targets is financially penalized, which is why the likes of Nissan didn't even bring the new Z in Europe.
