American motorcycle manufacturer Harley-Davidson announced yesterday it has decided to bring the XR1200X Sportster to the United States next year, as the model was introduced for export markets only so far.

The 2011 XR1200X comes fitted with fully-adjustable Showa front and rear suspension components, enhanced front brakes and a 1200cc Evolution V-Twin engine with black powdercoat finish. The power unit features downdraft Electronic Sequential Port Fuel Injection (ESPFI), high-performance camshafts, precision oil-cooled cylinder heads and a large-capacity oil cooler.

The tank and tail sections evoke the Harley-Davidson XR750, and together with the wide flat-track bars and rearset footpegs position, offer the XR1200X a mechanical look. The XR1200X has a blacked-out powertrain and exhaust, revised tank graphics, and black wheels with an orange rim pinstripe.

The visual and physical connection to the road is enhanced by three-spoke lightweight cast-aluminum wheels - 18-inch front / 17-inch rear - are finished in gloss black with an orange pinstripe on the rim, fitted with Dunlop Qualifier D209 tires, designed specifically for this bike model.

The compact instrument display features white-faced analog tachometer, digital speedometer, dual trip meter and clock. The bike comes optional with Harley-Davidson Smart Security System. Other notable features include a 3.5-gallon fuel tank with aircraft-style aluminum alloy fuel filler and a 29.2-inch seat height with standard passenger pillion and foot pegs.

The 2011 Harley-Davidson XR1200X Sportster will be offered in a choice of two colors, namely Black Denim and White Hot Denim. Pricing details are to be released closer to the market launch.
