OVer the years, Ken Block has made sure his Gymkhana series of stunts doesn't get crushed under its own weight, constantly upping the ante on the spectacular front. We are now only one day away from the release of the seventh installment of the franchise and we're bringing you a juicy preview.
Ken Block has invited British journalist Chris Harris over, offering him a shotgun ride. In fact, it was more of a machine gun ride, since the machine Block hoons for Gymkhana Seven marks one of the greatest changes of the series - the man has left his AWD Fiesta monster behind for a just-as-AWD 1965 Ford Mustang. Of course, this is an all-custom creation, so take that year with a grain of salt.
We previously spied Ken Block's 845 hp Mustang and now this wild pony is being put to work in order to give Chris Harris the chills. We're not sure how much of @harrismokey's reaction is actual surprise and how much is acting, but we're convinced the ride was far on the wild side.
Block has even come up with a proper name for his supercharged, retro-styled Mustang: the Hoonicorn. Cats and unicorns are two of the most popular things in the virtual world at the moment, so this adaptation of the Hoonigan label, to which neither Block nor Harris are strangers, seems just right.
A few hours ago, Block hosted a pre-release viewing party to "show the video to select friends/family/partners at one of the locations we filmed at in Los Angeles". Apparently, he made a pretty good selection of the audience, since nobody had the kindness to leak any footage online so far. Guess we'll actually have to wait until tomorrow, November 17 at 7Am PST to enjoy the Hoonicorning...

The tire-smoking details
Like we said, this is just a small preview for the full Gymkhana Seven play. Unlike Number Six, which took place in a dedicated environment, the current production was shot on the streets of Los Angeles - perhaps Block wanted to recreate the thrills of Gymkhana Five, which saw his Fiesta getting plenty of air time on the streets of San Francisco.Block has even come up with a proper name for his supercharged, retro-styled Mustang: the Hoonicorn.
