Toyota is probably the strongest presence at this year’s Tokyo Auto Show, as the Japanese company has brought 15 impressive vehicles, among them being tuned versions of the Yaris, iQ, GT 86 and even some old classics.
This special little car is based on the Aston Martin Cygnet’s sister, the Toyota iQ, however the aftermarket customization by Toyota motorsports partner Gazoo Racing has left it virtually unrecognizable. The Japanese automaker has announced it is indeed going into production.
The car is fitted with the 1.3-liter engine under the hood, which GRMN has supercharged from 94 hp to 130 hp. The torque curve also sits higher, at 133 lb-ft instead o 89 lb-ft. What’s more, it doesn’t come with a boring CVT, but a six-speed manual gearbox. But it’s that wide-body design that impresses us the most, which is too bad because only 100 will ever be made.
