“I said, ‘You’re not getting my van and I slapped that gun to the side’” Kay Kise, a 67-year old grandmother from Indianapolis, told reporters. She had just arrived outside her home around 8 p.m. when three punks about 16 years old approached her. When she refused to give the keys to her van, they bashed the old lady. Even though she ended up in the hospital, the carjackers still didn’t get the car.
Kise simply refused to give in to the heartless punks who reportedly were not even of full age yet. The poor lady had been doing some Christmas shopping and was just getting out of her van when the three males approached her. Initially asking for directions, soon enough they would hold the gun in the the lady’s face telling her to hand over the keys from the car.
Not only did she refuse but she even found the courage to push the gun to the side. The next thing, she found herself knocked dizzy, fallen back into her van with the sliding back door still open. Luckily, a 13-year old neighbor saw her throbbing, starting to bleed and swell, and told his mother.
The yelling and all the noise apparently scared the punks away, which took of running down the street leaving the poor lady beaten up. However, she was still holding the keys.
Even though Kise had to spend the whole night at the hospital, having suffered several facial fractures, bleeding on her brain and her left with eye swollen shut, Kay claims she does not regret her deed.
“I know it’s just a vehicle, but it’s the only thing I’ve got. And I don’t have no money to buy another one with, so they weren’t going to take it from me”, Kise told Fox59.
The robbers are still on the run, but Kise’s granddaughter hopes the teenage suspects will turn themselves in.
