Grandma Drives a Stick Again After 40 Years, Tries Her Grandson's Ford Focus ST

Yes, the title above would've been spicier had it said "Grandma Learns How To Drive a Stick," but that's not the truth. You see, this elderly driver already knew how to handle a clutch when her grandson decided to place her behind the wheel of his Ford Focus ST, but she hadn't played the manual gearbox game for around four decades or so.
And with the man's 2012 Focus ST being one thrill-rich hot hatch, the lessons you'll get to see in the video below weren't exactly a walk in the park. However, this grandmother stayed true to her Italian roots, showing an effervescent attitude while she was at it.

After all, the woman does explain her last manual was the original Fiat 124 and we can't imagine she never experienced rain in her rear-wheel-drive sportscar back in the day.

In fact, it seems the woman had been aiming to get behind the wheel of the fast Ford for a while, as the YouTube user who orchestrated the whole shenanigan explains in the description of the video: "Ever since I got this car, my Grandma has been saying she wants to drive it, so here we are. Enjoy lol."

Perhaps in a predictable fashion, it doesn't take long before the man asks his grandma to put her foot down. And while she did seem to play a little trick on him by starting with her left foot, she eventually got to the point where she welded the throttle to the floor.

While things started in a parking lot, they quickly evolved, with the grandmother making her way up through the traffic ranks. The video also shows her getting emotional at times and perhaps using... strong language, but if you don't speak Italian, you probably won't understand that bit, so it's all safe.

The clip gives us around six minutes of grandma hot hatch action, but things won't stop here. That's because the man challenged the audience to like a comment he posted, explaining he would convince his grandma to go for an Auto-X even once the comment received 25 likes. Given the number of likes he's received so far, he might have to take the woman to a rally some day.
