The white and black interior that Tesla first delivered the Cybertruck with was a big no-no for many of those who were considering buying an example. Now, they have no excuse. The first Cybertruck with the Tactical Grey interior has been delivered.
Tesla started delivering the Cybertruck on November 30, 2023, with a special event that took place at the Giga factory in Texas. That day, ten lucky customers left home with their brand-new electric pickup trucks. All of them were the Foundation Series variant, all of them had the unpainted, unwrapped stainless steel exterior, and the blackish-greyish-whitish interior.
But Tesla is running out of the Foundation Series examples, and the time has come for the automaker to come up with different versions. Therefore, customers will also be able to choose a Tactical Grey interior from now on. The first Cybertruck with a Tactical Grey interior showed up in photos and videos uploaded to the Cybertruck Owners Club forum.
There will also be a reduced number of Foundation Series units with the Tactical Grey interior. According to a forum user, the production of such units started on June 26, 2024.
This might convince others to order an example. Customers can go for the rear-wheel drive starting at $57,390, the all-wheel drive starting at $76,390, or the range-topping Cyberbeast with three electric motors, 845 horsepower and an MSRP of $96,390.
Any of the three can be specced with the grey interior. Those interested in booking a model must pay a deposit of $250 as opposed to the original amount, which required starting in 2019, of only $100, and refundable any time the customers change their minds.
The official Tesla website will allow you to reserve a unit no matter where you are from, regardless if the Cybertruck is road-legal in your country or not. However, the Cybertruck has not been homologated for the European roads because it is too dangerous for pedestrians and too heavy.
The photos uploaded to the forum confirm that the Cybertruck with the cabin in grey is much more appropriate for those who want to use it as the pickup truck that it is. We have already seen owners who push the capabilities of their Cybertrucks to the max and use them as real workhorses.
The change in the interior color should also encourage companies who are planning to change or increase the number of vehicles in their fleets.
However, the users on the Cybertruck Owners Club point out that the grey in the Tesla configurator is darker than what they see in the photos. "Not as dark as I hoped, but I still like it more than white," someone wrote.
Many customers confirm that they changed their order, switching from white to grey along the way. The downside is that their delivery date was pushed back. There are also aftermarket specialists that can customize Cybertruck interiors, as we have already seen one in Bordeaux leather and another one in light blue.
Tesla has also started offering more shades of color paint film from the factory, allowing owners to customize their vehicles. Satin Rose and Satin Forest Green are available for $6,500. But colors such as Satin Crimson Red, Abyss Blue, or Iridescent Purple are gone.
