In case you didn't know, General Motors India is still selling the former generation Spark/Matiz city car due to the low purchasing power of the typical Indian motorist. Nevertheless, cheap and cheerful city dwellers are also entitled to receive their own special editions, just like the recently unveiled Chevrolet Spark Limited Edition.
So what's changed over the standard model? Well, don't hold your breath for any mechanical change whatsoever. This little runaround is powered by the same 1.0-liter pipette that churns out an 'awe-inspiring' 62 horsepower and 'tire-shredding levels of torque' thanks to the 90 Nm delivered at 4,200 rpm. All that minimalistic oomph is handled by the front axle via a five-speed manual gearbox.
The Chevrolet Spark Limited Edition is all about a few special bits and bobs that visually enhance the rather boring and austere city car. A dual-port front grille similar to the one on the Chevrolet Cruze sedan dominates the front fascia, giving the Spark a slightly more dignified look than the standard model. Chrome exterior detailing, seven body colors and side body graphics are also unique features that come only with the Limited Edition.
In terms of cabin features, the India-only Spark Limited Edition comes with 'neat additions' such as a steering wheel cover, neck rests, ambient lightning, premium floor mats and beige seat covers with contrasting red stripes.
So how much does it cost? An ex-showroom car will set you back 3.44 lakh rupees, which translates to a little over $5,700 at current exchange rates, while the bells and whistles version will set you back 3.99 lakh rupees.
