Do you remember the G80 EV Magma Concept Genesis unveiled at the Beijing Auto Show in China? Sure you do, as it's been only two months since the study was displayed in the People's Republic. Well, the same car underwent a few cosmetic changes as it's being prepped for the 2024 Goodwood Festival of Speed.
Our spy photographers managed to capture it on camera while it was being loaded onto a trailer. Normally, it wouldn't be worth dedicating an entire story to it, but as stated above, the vehicle was modified, emphasizing its exterior.
First and most important, it doesn't feature the same Acme Blue paint finish, as it now has a bright orange look. Second, those rather ugly alloys with their intricate pattern were ditched, and instead, the Genesis G80 EV Magma Concept now rides on different ones with a Y-spoke design. The final exterior reference is dedicated to the special graphics on the rear doors that say 'Designed by Genesis.'
But could the updates stop here? We think not, as chances are the company's design team paid some attention to the cockpit, too. After all, it used to have blue accents on the inside before to tie it to the Acme Blue finish, and since it now has a bright orange paintwork, some of the trim may have been repainted. This is probably where the visual differences end, as everything else should be the same as it was a couple of months ago during the study's official unveiling.
Other highlights include the sporty front and rear bumpers, a chrome-delete package for a more menacing look, the brand's typical crest grille, dual headlamps and taillights, an integrated ducktail spoiler, and a four-fin diffuser with a motorsport-like extra brake light incorporated in the middle. It also has special trim on the sides, including the aforementioned graphics, and the wheels that we mentioned above, which are part of the novelties.
Quilted leather upholstery can likely be found once opening the door, next to the usual Alcantara touches for a sportier vibe. The large dual screens, with the infotainment measuring 14.5 inches in diagonal and the digital gauges 12.3 inches, probably soldier on with no modifications.
Beneath the skin lies a tweaked suspension. The Genesis G80 EV Magma Concept has uprated brakes with large ventilated discs, a wider track, and a punchy zero-emission powertrain that has yet to be detailed. The regular Electrified G80 uses a dual-motor setup driving both axles, with a combined 365 horsepower (370 ps/272 kW) and 516 pound-foot (700 Nm) of torque that enables 0-60 mph (0-97 kph) in just under five seconds. The 87.2 kWh battery pack enables a 282-mile (454 km) range.
Genesis' G80 EV Magma Concept will celebrate its dynamic debut by taking on the Goodwood Festival of Speed Hill Climb in July.
