Following a manufacturing agreement dating from the spring of 2013 which brought Spanish makes Gas Gas and Ossa together in one plant, the industry now sees a merger between the two. Even though the move might seem more like Gas Gas buying Ossa, officials claim the two brands will remain distinct.
Both manufacturers struggle to survive in the bad economical Spanish environment, dominated by unemployment, and leaving individual egos out of the equation seems to be the only viable solution.
As Ossa has been building their bikes in Gas Gas' facility during the last year or so, the HR, financial, engineering and operations resources of the two will be brought together and the whole business will be optimized.
Ossa is already planning new trial models and even a new street bike, rumors have it. We'll see if this merger will help Gas Gas and Ossa overcome these rough times.
